Six passengers sustained minor injuries after a BEST bus operating on Route A-422/36 collided with a road divider at Powai Vihar Sankul on Thursday morning.
According to a press note issued by the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) Undertaking, the incident occurred at around 11.05 am when the electric bus, attached to Vikhroli Depot, was travelling from Vikhroli Depot to Bandra Bus Station (West).
As per the BEST press note, the bus driver stated that he noticed a car approaching from the left side. While his attention was focused on the car, the bus struck the divider on the right side of the road, resulting in injuries to six passengers travelling in the bus.
The injured were identified as Ajay Shinde (21), Sakshi Pisal (23), Babar Singh (20), Manoj Gupta (41), Praneeti Mali (25) and Nadir Shah Chikode (35). They sustained minor injuries, including injuries to the eye, chin, lip, forehead, nose and neck.
The BEST press note stated that the bus conductor shifted all the injured passengers to Paramount Hospital, Sakinaka, for treatment on the instructions of Wet Lease Depot Manager Kishor Shinde. It added that all six passengers sustained only minor injuries.
BEST said Acting Bus Inspector No. 097343 (Marol), Accident Inspector No. 73, Kurla Depot Manager Tiwari, Assistant Depot Manager Genge (Marol) and Accident Officer TO-20 Jadhav have been assigned to carry out the necessary inquiry. Wet Lease Officer Kishor Shinde has also been directed to visit both the accident site and the hospital.
According to the BEST Undertaking, further investigation into the incident is underway.
