The Navi Mumbai Police have destroyed 726 kg of seized narcotic substances valued at approximately ₹26.30 crore, as part of the ongoing “Nasha Mukt Navi Mumbai” campaign against illegal drugs.

The narcotics, seized in 201 cases registered within the Navi Mumbai Police Commissionerate limits, were destroyed on September 30 at a government-authorised waste-management facility in Taloja following prescribed legal procedures. Senior police officials, including Police Commissioner Milind Bharambe, Joint Commissioner Deepak Sakore and Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Pramod Shewale, were present during the disposal process.

The police said the action forms part of sustained efforts to curb the sale, storage and trafficking of narcotic substances in Navi Mumbai. The campaign also includes preventive measures and public-awareness initiatives.

According to police figures, during the past five years, 2,387 narcotics-related cases have been registered in Navi Mumbai, resulting in the arrest of around 3,200 accused. During the period, police seized approximately 1,078 kg of narcotic substances, valued at nearly ₹150 crore.

Police said narcotics worth approximately ₹139.74 crore seized in 393 cases have been destroyed so far under the campaign. Awareness programmes are also being conducted in schools, colleges, housing societies and public places to highlight the risks associated with drug abuse.

The Navi Mumbai Police have appealed to citizens to share information regarding the sale, storage or transportation of narcotics through their dedicated helpline 8828-112-112, with informants’ identities kept confidential.
