A joint team of the Delhi Police’s Special Cell and Uttar Pradesh Police’s Special Task Force arrested a gangster named Sandeep after a brief exchange of fire in Delhi’s Narela area on Wednesday morning.
After receiving a tip-off regarding the gangster’s whereabouts, the police team arrived in Narela.
At around 5 am, the gangster turned up on a bike. The police signalled to him to stop but he allegedly fired three rounds at them instead. In retaliation, the police fired at Sandeep and he was injured on his right knee. He was rushed to the hospital.
A gun and three live cartridges have been recovered from Sandeep. The police registered a case in the matter.
GANGSTER’S CRIMINAL RECORD
According to the police, the accused was previously arrested in four criminal cases, including one murder. The other cases pertain to robberies.
He was presently wanted and absconding in more than five crimes, including one shootout, in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Haryana. All five were committed in the last one month.
