Germany’s Baden-Wuerttemberg Minister Meets Maharashtra Governor

Baden-Württemberg is a state in southwest Germany bordering France and Switzerland

German Federal State Baden-Wuerttemberg’s Minister for Policy Coordination Ms.  Theresa Schopper met Governor of Maharashtra Bhagat Singh Koshyari at Raj Bhavan in Mumbai on Friday, 7th February, 2020. 

The Minister was accompanied by a leading business delegation from their country. The business delegation included from various sectors like from agriculture, food processing and urban development.

Theresa Schopper told the Governor that Baden Wuerttemberg was the power house of Germany, and has been the base of Germany’s automobile sector.

Highlighting relationship between two cities, Minister Theresa Schopper said “Stuttgart, the capital city of Baden Wuerttemberg and the city of Mumbai had a sister-city relationship for the last few decades which is deloping stronger”. She also mentioned to the Governor that her State also had a think tank on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and that the State could extend AI cooperation to Maharashtra.

The delegation accompanying the Minister apprised the Governor that there are more than 1800 German companies are operating from India foe very long. out of these, Maharashtra alone has 40 per cent of these companies working in different parts. The delegation told the Governor that Germany had emerged as a popular destination for students pursuing higher education.

Welcoming the delegation to Maharashtra, Governor Koshyari said Maharashtra would welcome cooperation with Baden Wuerttemberg in the areas of agriculture, horticulture and floriculture. He called for further strengthening cooperation in culture, education and people to people contacts.

Baden-Württemberg is a state in southwest Germany bordering France and Switzerland. The Black Forest, known for its evergreen scenery and traditional villages, lies in the mountainous southwest. Stuttgart, the capital, is home to Wilhelma, a royal estate turned zoo and gardens. Porsche and Mercedes-Benz have headquarters and museums there. The 19th-century Hohenzollern Castle sits in the Swabian Alps to the south.
