Sandiaga stated “Connectivity is the key to increase the number of international tourist visits, and the long-awaited direct flight from India to Indonesia will play a vital role in achieving this. We expect the IndiGo flight to attract more Indian tourists to visit Indonesia, thereby contributing to the growth of foreign exchange earnings from the tourism sector and creating additional job opportunities”.

Highlighting the significance of this event, Sandiaga also emphasized that the IndiGo aircraft’s landing in Jakarta marks the reopening of the direct flight route between India and Indonesia, which had been inactive for the past four years. The flight is scheduled to operate daily, and it is believed that more airlines will consider opening direct flights in the future, given the consistent increase in the number of Indian tourists visiting Indonesia. The country’s fascinating natural attractions and cultural similarities make it one of the most favoured destinations for Indian travellers.
