Uzbekistan Airways JSC, in collaboration with its long-time Indian partner Arya Enterprises, officially launched its inaugural flight HY430 from Mopa, Goa (Manohar International Airport) on October 27.
As per a release by the GMR Goa International Airport Limited, the flight – an Airbus A320neo with a seating capacity of 150 passengers – landed at the airport in North Goa at 10.55 am. It departed for Tashkent in Central Asia at 12.15 pm with 84 passengers on board.
The first flight was celebrated with a water cannon salute, marking the airline’s new connection from GOX. The celebration included a lamp-lighting ceremony, where the airline team welcomed passengers with complimentary goodies such as dry fruits and neck pillows.
The flight arrived from Tashkent carrying 111 passengers and departed with 82. Anish Arya of Arya Enterprises, the Indian representative for Uzbekistan Airways, noted that among the departing passengers were 40 students traveling to Russia for medical studies.
Arya highlighted that this marks the second route launch for Uzbekistan Airways in India for 2024, following the introduction of regular flights from Mumbai on April 2. The airline will now operate flights from GOX twice a week, every Sunday and Wednesday. Travelers can apply for visas to Uzbekistan online at www.e-visa.gov.uz.
Mopa Airport, developed by GMR Goa International Airport Limited (GGIAL), currently handles an average of 100 aircraft movements and around 15,000 passengers daily.
