Fiji’s tourism sector recorded remarkable growth in 2024, with visitor arrivals surpassing 1 million—a 6.5% increase over projections. Brent Hill, CEO of Tourism Fiji, attributes this success to strategic diversification and strong global campaigns, with a special focus on India.
India remains a key source market, and Tourism Fiji is now aiming for double-digit growth from the region in 2025. “The exciting part is our focus on Indian tourists, which is why we are here in India,” said Hill. He emphasized the importance of improved air connectivity and highlighted opportunities across weddings, MICE, family, and solo travel segments. Fiji’s visa-free travel for Indian passport holders and strong cultural ties—40% of Fiji’s population is of Indian origin—also boost its appeal.
Tourism infrastructure is rapidly expanding with the refurbishment of Crowne Plaza Fiji Nadi Bay and the reopening of Westin Denarau Island Resort, alongside new properties like Radisson and glamping experiences. Fiji is also increasing trade engagement in India through roadshows and the Matai Specialist Programme for agents.
“With Hindi widely spoken and a warm, welcoming atmosphere, Indian travellers will feel right at home in Fiji,” Hill added. “We look forward to welcoming more visitors from India to our beautiful shores.”
