Diageo India, a subsidiary of global beverage leader Diageo and one of the country’s foremost beverage alcohol companies, has announced a landmark initiative in partnership with the Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET) to support women in the bar industry.
Launched under Diageo India’s “Our Hive” platform and powered by the Diageo Bar Academy, the programme aims to provide WSET Level 1 Spirits training to women bartenders and junior professionals. The globally recognised certification is expected to equip participants with advanced technical knowledge and enhance their career prospects within the hospitality sector.
In its first phase, more than 80 women will undergo training, promoting not only skill development but also long-term leadership opportunities in the beverage industry. The initiative reflects a broader commitment by Diageo India to foster gender diversity and inclusivity in the workplace.
Anchal Kaushal, Vice President – Customer Marketing at Diageo India, said the collaboration is designed to empower women with the tools they need to thrive in a competitive field. “Through this collaboration, we’re empowering women with skills, confidence, and leadership opportunities, driving a more inclusive workforce for the future,” she said.
By merging WSET’s internationally respected training framework with the on-ground expertise of the Diageo Bar Academy, the programme stands as a strong step towards creating a more inclusive, innovative, and skilled beverage industry in India. Diageo India continues to lead the way in redefining the standards of hospitality, with a focus on diversity and professional development.
