Marking a major milestone in its sustainability journey, Marriott India announced the successful planting of 100,000 trees across the country in celebration of World Environment Day 2025. This pan-India campaign, involving over 150 Marriott hotels and more than 15,000 volunteers, highlights the group’s commitment to environmental stewardship and ecological restoration.

This initiative builds on the momentum of Marriott India’s “Two Trees per Room” campaign launched in 2024, which saw 32,600 trees planted with the participation of 4,900 volunteers. By more than tripling their target in 2025, the hospitality group has demonstrated its resolve to take bold, measurable steps toward a greener future.

As part of the initiative, each Marriott property coordinated local tree-planting drives in collaboration with environmental and reforestation partners. Sites were carefully chosen for their ecological value, contributing to biodiversity, carbon sequestration, and improved soil and air quality—while also supporting nearby communities.

Sanjay Gupta, Chairman of the Marriott India Business Council, said  “Marriott India is incredibly proud to have achieved this landmark goal. Planting 100,000 trees is not just symbolic—it reflects our long-term vision to embed sustainability into every aspect of our business and hospitality culture.”

Among the highlights, JW Marriott Pune pledged to plant four saplings per guest room, resulting in 1,664 trees. Partnering with Vanvibhag Pune, the trees were planted in protected forest areas, reinforcing the brand’s focus on meaningful local partnerships.

Beyond afforestation, Marriott India is implementing wide-ranging eco-initiatives, including energy conservation, waste reduction, and sustainable sourcing. This comprehensive approach positions the group as a leader in sustainable hospitality, inspiring the industry to adopt practices that ensure both business growth and environmental responsibility.
