The Department of Posts has announced the rollout of the next-generation APT application under its IT 2.0 digital transformation initiative, aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and customer service. The upgraded system will be implemented on July 22, 2025, across Mahim Head Post Office, Thane Head Post Office, Shrirampur Head Post Office, Jalgaon Head Post Office, Amravati Head Post Office, Kolhapur Head Post Office, and all subordinate sub post offices and branch post offices under these units.
To ensure a smooth transition to this advanced platform, a scheduled downtime has been planned for July 21, 2025. During this period, no public transactions will be carried out at these post offices. This temporary suspension of services is essential for data migration, system validations, and configuration processes, enabling the new system to go live seamlessly.

The upgraded APT application promises an improved user experience, faster service delivery, and a customer-friendly interface. This move underscores the Department of Posts’ commitment to building a digitally empowered postal ecosystem.
Customers are advised to plan their visits in advance to avoid inconvenience during the downtime. The department has expressed regret for any temporary disruption, emphasizing that these measures are aimed at delivering smarter, faster, and future-ready postal services.
Amitabh Singh, Chief Postmaster General, Maharashtra Circle, speaking to Mumbai Messenger newspaper, said, “With the launch of the APT application under IT 2.0, we are transforming our post offices into digitally empowered service hubs that cater to the evolving needs of customers with speed and transparency.”
