Mumbai Messenger Prakash Gidwani and the residents of Andheri West extend heartfelt appreciation to Senior Police Inspector Mr. Pramod Kokate and his dedicated team for their impactful work in enhancing law and order and civic conditions in the Amboli and Oshiwara areas. Inspector Kokate’s proactive approach, particularly in collaboration with the ACP Oshiwara and local civic bodies, has brought about tangible positive changes, restoring a sense of safety and order to the locality.

Tackling Social Issues and Nuisances
One of the most significant achievements highlighted by Mr. Prakash Gidwani is the visible reduction in the menace of prostitution and transgender soliciting in Amboli and Oshiwara. This focused effort, strongly supported and pushed for by the ACP Oshiwara, demonstrates a commitment to addressing complex social issues and improving the moral fabric of the community.

Furthermore, a persistent civic issue—the proliferation of hawkers in Monginis Lane—has seen substantial improvement. Thanks to the joint action and diligent follow-up involving the police, Mr. Gidwani’s direct engagement, and the BMC KW license department, the area is now less congested and more accessible.

Restoring Civic Order
Inspector Kokate’s firm hand has also been instrumental in clearing up public spaces. A commendable action was the removal of 10 scrap cars from the BMC KW Runwal Parking, an area that had become an eyesore and a waste of public space. This swift and decisive action highlights the police team’s willingness to address even seemingly minor civic complaints that significantly impact the quality of life for residents.

Mr. Gidwani personally met with Senior PI Kokate to convey the community’s gratitude and to draw attention to new areas requiring police intervention, such as the dangerous presence of hawkers under the ongoing metro construction. The urgency of this matter, where a falling object could lead to ADRs (Accidental Death Reports) and the loss of lives, has been noted, assuring residents that their safety concerns are being actively considered.

A Commitment to Dignity
In a powerful act of community service, Mr. Gidwani also recognized Inspector Kokate’s team for their cooperation in ensuring the dignified closure of an unfortunate incident: the clearing of an unknown, unclaimed dead body in Amboli on October 20, 2025. This support in a time-sensitive and sensitive matter reflects the humanitarian side of the police force and their commitment to all members of the community.

The visible improvements are a direct result of strong leadership, inter-departmental cooperation, and a willingness to listen to citizen feedback. The people of Andheri West look forward to the continued efforts of Senior PI Pramod Kokate and his team in maintaining and further enhancing the peace and safety of the neighborhood
