Apollo Hospital Navi Mumbai has launched a Precision Oncology Clinic aimed at delivering personalised, genomics-led cancer care by tailoring treatment to each patient’s unique biological and clinical profile. The initiative seeks to move beyond conventional “one-size-fits-all” cancer therapies by integrating genomic science into routine clinical practice.

The clinic offers customised treatment plans based on genomic profiling, biomarker subtype, age, comorbidities, lifestyle factors and individual treatment goals. With cancers of the same type often behaving differently among patients, precision oncology enables clinicians to identify the most effective therapies, anticipate treatment-related toxicity and reduce unnecessary side effects, leading to more predictable outcomes.

Speaking at the launch, Dr. Jyoti Bajpai, Lead Consultant, Medical and Precision Oncology, said, “Genomics tells us not just what cancer a patient has, for example, breast cancer, but also the type and subtype based on the genetics. Breast cancer can be Luminal A, Luminal B, Triple-negative, or HER2 type, with each type varying in aggressiveness and responding differently to therapies. The Precision Oncology Clinic allows us to reach this more precise diagnosis and treat the patient with a more personalised treatment strategy. We can select the most effective drug for that cancer type, at the right dose for the right patient, and even predict complications before they occur. This is no longer the future of oncology; this is oncology today.”

Adding to this, Arunesh Punetha, Regional CEO – Western Region, Apollo Hospitals, said, “Precision Oncology allows us to move beyond a one-size-fits-all approach, ensuring every patient receives care tailored to their disease, biology, age, gender, profession, preferences and life circumstances.”

The Precision Oncology Clinic provides comprehensive genomic profiling, including next-generation sequencing to identify actionable mutations and molecular pathways. Treatment decisions are reviewed by a multidisciplinary tumour board comprising oncologists, pathologists, genetic counsellors, radiologists and support specialists, ensuring evidence-based and consensus-driven care.

Apollo Hospitals Navi Mumbai, situated in CBD Belapur, is a 500-bed multi-speciality tertiary care hospital. The hospital provides comprehensive medical and surgical services across major disciplines, supported by advanced diagnostic and treatment technologies. It serves patients from Navi Mumbai, surrounding regions, and overseas.
