Mumbai’s cocktail circuit is gearing up for an international collaboration as Comorin Mumbai hosts an exclusive one-night bar takeover by Tokyo’s globally acclaimed The SG Club on May 22, 2026.

The evening will be led by acclaimed Japanese bartender Ruka Hattori, whose inventive and flavour-driven cocktail style has earned recognition across Asia’s bar community. Beginning at 7 pm, the takeover promises an immersive showcase of Japanese cocktail craftsmanship, combining precision techniques, layered flavours and Tokyo’s contemporary bar culture at the Mumbai outpost of Comorin.

Founded by internationally celebrated bartender Shingo Gokan, The SG Club has consistently featured on both The World’s 50 Best Bars and Asia’s 50 Best Bars lists since opening in 2018. Inspired by the final years of Japan’s Tokugawa shogunate, the venue imagines a bar established by travelling samurais returning from America in the 1860s. The concept combines Japanese attention to detail with global influences through its dual-format spaces — Sip, an intimate basement cocktail bar, and Guzzle, an energetic izakaya-style venue.

Representing the Tokyo bar in Mumbai, Hattori brings a deeply personal approach to mixology shaped by her upbringing in Kochi Prefecture, where her family runs a soy sauce brewery. Her understanding of fermentation and layered flavour profiles has become central to her cocktail philosophy. In 2024, she won the Japan round of the Campari Red Hands Asia competition and secured third place at the Asia finals.

For the Mumbai takeover, guests can expect signature creations including Que Bonito!, featuring Choya Umeshu, rum and passionfruit, and the Shichuan “Má”rgarita, blending tequila, mezcal, Sichuan peppercorn and mikan. Other highlights include Dirty Mango and Negroni Xocolatl, both showcasing bold spirit-forward profiles with inventive twists.

The event reflects Comorin Mumbai’s ongoing focus on bringing globally recognised bar talent and narrative-driven beverage experiences to the city’s evolving hospitality landscape.
