India-Oman economic cooperation received a fresh boost at a business interaction in Mumbai, where an Omani delegation invited Indian companies to explore investment opportunities across manufacturing, energy, logistics, healthcare and emerging sectors.
Addressing the session at MVIRDC World Trade Center Mumbai, Al Rashidi, Vice Consul at the Oman Consulate in Mumbai, described India and Oman as natural partners with centuries-old commercial and civilisational ties.
He said the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) would provide further momentum to bilateral economic relations. He also expressed hope that key initiatives, including the pending oil pipeline project and the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC), would advance.
“Oman can serve as a gateway for Indian businesses to access Gulf Cooperation Council countries, Africa and Europe,” Al Rashidi said, inviting Indian entrepreneurs to participate in Oman’s expanding economy.
Khalid bin Sulaiman Al Salehi, Director General for Marketing and Commercial Affairs at Madayn, outlined opportunities under Oman Vision 2040 across aluminium, food processing, minerals and mining, logistics, renewable energy, green hydrogen, IT and artificial intelligence.
He said eligible foreign investors could benefit from 100 per cent ownership, long-term industrial leases and other investment incentives. Indian companies, he added, could explore opportunities in pharmaceuticals, polymers, automotive, food processing and renewable energy.
Dr Vijay Kalantri, President of the All India Association of Industries and Chairman of MVIRDC World Trade Center Mumbai, said bilateral trade was around USD 11 billion, with potential to reach USD 25 billion through wider cooperation.
Priya Pansare, Senior Director for Trade, Investment and International Relations at WTC Mumbai, said CEPA offered a strong platform for deeper cooperation. More than 100 entrepreneurs participated in the business session, underlining strong interest in expanding commercial ties.
Capt. Somesh Batra, Vice Chairman of WTC Mumbai, said the organisation would support stronger business connections between Indian and Omani companies. The Mumbai session brought together Omani officials and more than 100 Indian entrepreneurs to discuss investment opportunities and identify areas for future commercial engagement
