Actress Kalyani Priyadarshan has made Mumbai her base as she prepares for her Bollywood debut in Pralay, the upcoming post-apocalyptic thriller directed by Jai Mehta and starring Ranveer Singh.

Kalyani, who has worked predominantly in South Indian cinema, is preparing for an action-oriented role in the film. According to recent reports, she has been undergoing intensive action training and following a specialised diet as part of her preparation for the character. She has also participated in script readings, workshops and rehearsals with Ranveer Singh.

The film began shooting in Mumbai in August, with further filming scheduled to resume in October. Pralay is set against a post-apocalyptic backdrop and is being directed by Jai Mehta, with Vishal Kapoor credited as writer. The project is expected to feature Ranveer and Kalyani in central roles.

Kalyani, daughter of filmmaker Priyadarshan, gained wider attention with her performance in the Malayalam film Lokah: Chapter 1: Chandra. Her transition into Hindi cinema with Pralay marks a new phase in her career.

The actress is also reportedly exploring opportunities in both Hindi and South Indian cinema while preparing for the film.
