Bollywood actor Ajay Devgn has sought Malayalam superstar Mohanlal’s approval for Drishyam: The Conclusion, the third and final chapter of the Hindi Drishyam franchise, which is scheduled to release in theatres on October 2.
Speaking at FICCI Frames, Devgn revealed that he had called Mohanlal and wanted him to watch the film and share his response. The Hindi Drishyam franchise is based on the Malayalam films starring Mohanlal, making his reaction particularly significant to the team.
Devgn said the new film takes the story in a completely different direction from the Malayalam version. Unlike the first two Hindi films, which were based on the Malayalam originals, Drishyam: The Conclusion has an entirely new script.
Devgn reprises his role as Vijay Salgaonkar, while Shriya Saran, Tabu, Ishita Dutta and Rajat Kapoor return to the franchise. Jaideep Ahlawat and Prakash Raj join the cast in new roles. The film is directed by Abhishek Pathak.
Devgn also said that he considers the film the appropriate conclusion to the franchise, noting the difficulty involved in writing a Drishyam story and expressing his desire to end the series with this chapter.
Mohanlal was reportedly travelling when Devgn contacted him and had not yet watched the film. Devgn said he expected the Malayalam star to watch it soon.Drishyam: The Conclusion is presented by Star Studio18 and produced by Alok Jain, Ajit Andhare, Kumar Mangat Pathak and Abhishek Pathak.
