Mumbai reports less than 2000 COVID-19 cases for second day in a row

On Tuesday, Mumbai reported 1,717 new coronavirus cases in the past 24 hours. This is the second day in a row that the city has recorded less than 2000 COVID-19 cases. The overall caseload of Mumbai now stands at 6,79,986.

The city also saw a considerable drop in the number of fatalities as 51 patients succumbed to the virus on Tuesday. With that, the death toll has climbed to 13,942.

On the other hand, Mumbai saw a massive number of recoveries in a single day with 6,082 coronavirus patients beating the virus and testing negative for it. The number of recoveries in the city now stands at 6,23,080.

The financial capital is now left with 41,102 active cases, according to the latest data provided by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation.

It is to be noted that on April 4, the city had recorded over 11,000 new cases, the highest one-day spike ever since the pandemic began in March 2020.

Even though Mumbai has been witnessing a steady downward trend in the number of coronavirus cases, the BMC as well as Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray have advised people to not let their guards down, and instead, cooperate with the authorities to tackle the second wave of the pandemic effectively.
