According to reports, Deepika Padukone will make a special appearance in Ranveer Singh’s much-awaited film Cirkus, which is currently being shot at a brisk pace. Also starring Jacqueline Fernandez and Pooja Hegde in lead roles, the upcoming comic-caper is a Rohit Shetty directorial.
An Indian publication reports that Padukone is expected to feature in a special dance number and also a few important scenes in the film.
“Cirkus has just got bigger with the presence of Deepika Padukone. She has a special dance number in the film along with some conversational scenes. Her sequences are sure to bring the house down with laughter,” a source close to the development tells the publication.
Cirkus reunites Ranveer Singh and director Rohit Shetty after their 2018 blockbuster Simmba. The film is inspired by Shakespeare’s famous play The Comedy of Errors. It went on floors in November last year.
The last film featuring Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone was Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmaavat (2018). However, the real-life couple did not have any scenes together in the magnum opus.
They will next be seen together in ’83. Singh plays legendary cricketer Kapil Dev in the sports drama while Padukone features in the brief role of Dev’s wife Romi Dev. The mega-budgeted film, directed by Kabir Khan, chronicles the Indian cricket team’s unprecedented win against West Indies in the 1983 World Cup series.
Jointly produced by Reliance Entertainment, Phantom Films, and Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment, ’83 was originally set to release in April 2020. However, the makers had to push its release back in the wake of the Coronavirus pandemic. It is now expected to arrive in cinemas in the second quarter of 2021. An official announcement is highly awaited though.
