Fresh restrictions imposed in Mira-Bhayandar

The Mira Bhayandar Municipal Corporation (MBMC) has imposed a few restrictions in the twin-city amid a surge in coronavirus cases.

According to a notification issued by the civic body on Friday, the restrictions have been imposed with immediate effect in the COVID-19 hotspots of Mira Bhayandar and will remain in force till March 31, 2021.

As per the order issued by MBMC Commissioner Dilip Dhole, hotels, restaurants, bars, banquet halls, and food courts, outside the containment zones and hotspots will be allowed to operate from 7 am till 11 pm. They were earlier allowed to remain open till 1 am.

Similarly, to curb the spread of coronavirus in the area, all kinds of shops and shopping malls have been allowed to operate from 9 am to 10 pm.

On Friday, as many as 74 persons tested positive in Mira Bhayandar, taking the cumulative positive cases in the twin cities to 27,797. One person succumbed to the virus in the last 24 hours, and with that, the death toll increased to 806.

Also, the active cases in the area have now jumped to 792.

While Mira Road, with 63 cases, accounted for the maximum of those cases, Bhayandar East and Bhayandar West had three and eight cases, respectively.
