Ganja worth ₹13 lakh seized from Nagpur

The Nagpur Police seized a massive quantity of ganja from a car driven by a man who lost his job as a teacher during the lockdown.

Shivshankar Yallaya Isampalli (27), who lost his job as a dance teacher in a Hyderbad-based school, told police that he had no knowledge that there were drugs in his vehicle.

Isampalli said he was driving the car for a livelihood as he was unemployed

Ganja worth over ₹13 lakh was recovered after the Beltarodi police received a tip-off that the illegal drug is being smuggled in a car.

The accused has been booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substance (NDPS) Act.

During the nakabandi, Isampalli’s car, which was going to Delhi from Hyderbad, was stopped on Wardha Road, following which police recovered 91 kg of ganja stuffed in four plastic sacks.

“Isampalli was detained and ganja worth ₹13.73 lakh, the car, ₹1,200 cash, and a mobile phone were seized,” said police.
