Three held with drugs in Mira-Bhayander

Three persons possessing drugs and swords were nabbed by the police in Maharashtra’s Mira Bhayander area, cops informed on Tuesday.

Mephedrone worth ₹8.80 lakh was seized from the trio.

The incident came to light when five persons were spotted moving about in a suspicious manner near a slum colony in Mira Bhayander on Sunday.

The police then caught hold of three persons out of them and recovered almost 80 grams of mephedrone powder from one Sandeep Nangre (32).

The remaining two who were caught have been identified as Suryakant Karalkar (27) and Shakir Shayyed (34). Both of them work as drivers, cops informed.

However, two persons from the group managed to escape and a search operation for them is currently underway.

Besides the drugs, five swords were also seized from the accused.

A case has been registered against the accused under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and the Arms Act.
