BMC extends COVID vaccine global tender deadline by a week

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has received no bids for its global expression of interest (EOI) floated last week to procure one crore vaccine doses.

The BMC on Tuesday (May 18) extended the deadline for its global tender for vaccine supply to Mumbai by a week, to May 25.

On May 12, BMC had floated a global bid to acquire 1 crore COVID-19 vaccine doses to inoculate the citizens of Mumbai at the earliest possible on a massive scale in its decisive fight against the virus.

The last date to submit bids was May 18 and the civic body did not receive a single bid.

The interested parties had to submit their expression of interest before 1 pm on May 18.

As per the tender document, those interested were to send their queries, if any, by May 16.

The applicant should have a valid license to manufacture or export COVID-19 vaccines to India from the competent authority, and/or Food and Drug Administration of the Government of India.

As of now, Covishield, Covaxin and Sputnik V are available in India.
