It’s always tricky to achieve that shimmer look, if it’s overdone, we might end up having a greasy mess. So, keep it subtle—highlight one part of your face or body at a time and just follow the tips I have listed to keep you glowing and glistening like a radiant lady!

SHIMMER EYESHADOW TIP 1: DO YOUR EYES FIRST

Are you used to applying your face makeup first as your routine? Hold on! When it comes to using shimmer eyeshadows, you have to be prepared for fallout. If you do your face makeup first, you’ll end up having to remove some of your foundation and under-eye concealer in the process of cleaning up your under-eye area. Instead, apply your eye makeup at the start of your routine and use micellar water to easily wipe away any sparkly specks that end up under your eyes or on your cheeks.

SHIMMER EYESHADOW TIP 2: CREATE BALANCE

It’s always good balance out the finishes you use in your eye makeup. If you want to wear a shimmery shade on your lid, opt for a matte eye shadow in your crease, and vice versa.

SHIMMER EYESHADOW TIP 3: LESS IS MORE

When it comes to bold makeup look, the mantra is always “less is more”. Rather than overdoing your shimmery shadow, start by packing the eye shadow onto the center of your lid. This will create a highlighted effect that makes eyes look bigger, and you can always easily amp up the shimmer if you decide you want to add more.

STEP 4: DEFINE YOUR CREASE

Like we mentioned above, when defining your crease, you’ll want to switch up the finish of your shadow. Reach for a light brown, matte eye shadow to do just that.

STEP 5: LINE YOUR EYES

Give your eyes an added wow-factor with the help of liquid eyeliner

STEP 6: LET YOUR LIPS DO THE TALKING

Always go for a neutral beige or pink lip colour. A red, pink, orange or brown, along with matching lip pencils, define your lips and make them look fuller.

STEP 7: Shimmer your aura

Put the basics together first and then add a few personal favourite colours and products. Add a good foundation, concealer and powder. These are key to flawless-looking skin. For eyes, add a kajal, liner, mascara and a neutral eyeshadow palette… If you want to experiment with colours, pick blues, purples and pinks to go with your outfits. For the cheeks, use products that help contour and add warmth to your face. A few blush colours – pink, beige and orange are must-haves.
