Sofitel Mumbai BKC is celebrating the rich culinary heritage of Maharashtra’s Konkan coast with “Taste of Malvan”, a special food festival at Pondichéry Café featuring a specially curated menu by Executive Chef Vividh Patil, who brings the flavours of his native Malvan to Mumbai.
Running from 31 July to 8 August 2026, the festival showcases the distinctive flavours of Malvani cuisine through recipes inspired by Chef Patil’s personal connection with the region. Rooted in family traditions and generations-old culinary practices, the menu highlights the authentic essence of the Konkan coast, bringing together fresh seafood, coconut, kokum and aromatic Malvani spices.
Chef Vividh Patil, Executive Chef, Sofitel Mumbai BKC, said: “Malvani cuisine is not just about flavours; it is a celebration of memories, traditions and the coastal culture I have grown up with. Through ‘Taste of Malvan’, I wanted to bring the essence of my homeland to our guests by showcasing family-inspired recipes, authentic ingredients and the rich culinary heritage of the Konkan region. Every dish tells a story of simplicity, warmth and generations of tradition, and I hope guests experience the true spirit of Malvan through this special menu.”
The festival reflects the vibrant character of Malvan’s coastal gastronomy, where fresh ingredients and traditional cooking techniques come together to create a unique culinary identity. Each preparation has been thoughtfully crafted to highlight the balance of flavours that define Malvani cuisine, known for its fragrant spices, coconut-based preparations and distinctive use of local ingredients.
The “Taste of Malvan” festival will be hosted during dinner hours from 7 pm to 11 pm at Pondichéry Café, located at the lobby level of Sofitel Mumbai BKC. The celebration will culminate with a special Malvani Sunday Brunch on 9 August 2026 from 12:30 pm to 4 pm, offering guests an extended opportunity to explore the flavours and traditions of the Konkan region.
Through this limited-time culinary experience, Sofitel Mumbai BKC continues its endeavour of bringing regional Indian cuisines and authentic food narratives to Mumbai’s dining enthusiasts. The festival celebrates not only the flavours of Malvan but also the cultural stories, memories and traditions that make the cuisine unique.
