The WGU runs a hostel for working women at Colaba, offers scholarships to girl students

Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari felicitated 21 women achievers and past and present trustees of the Women Graduates Union at Raj Bhavan Mumbai on 7th April 2022.

The Women Achievers Awards and Felicitation of Past and President and Trustees was organised by the 107-year-old Women Graduates Union on the occasion of the Platinum Jubilee of India’s Independence and International Women’s Day.

President of Women Graduates Union Adv Gauri Chhabria and trustee Havovi Gandhi were present on the dais. The Women Graduates Union runs a hostel for working women at Colaba in Mumbai and offers scholarships to girl students.

Speaking on the occasion the Governor said that the cycle of empowerment has turned in favour of women. He said in the years to come, India will have 50 percent women officers in administration and police service. He called for giving importance to Matrubhasha and Matrubhumi along with Matrushakti.

The Governor felicitated Dr. Ayesha Soonawalla, journalist Tabassum Barnagarwala, Dr. Sapna Ramani Saldanha, Dr. Prajakta Ambekar, Simran Ahuja, violinist Sunita Bhuyan, Vijaya Deshpande, Chitra Pathare, former President of Women Graduates Union Dr. Sudha Padhye, Dolat Kotwal, Prof. Sabita Chugani, Sheila Shastri, former President  Nandita Singh, President WGU Adv. Gauri Chhabria, past president Kashmira Meherhomji, Havovi Gandhi, Dr. Girdhar Luthriya, Ashish Singh, Rajashri Trivedi, and Nirmala Samant Prabhavalkar on the occasion.
