Celebrating the Platinum Jubilee of Indo-French heritage and shared history

Embassy of France in India in association with Consul General (CG) of France in Mumbai, Institut Français en Inde along with thenetwork of Alliances Françaises celebrating 75 years of Indo-Frenchheritage and shared history, Bonjour India 2022. There was a cultural and social event was organised at “French Residence”, the official residence of the Consul General of France in Mumbai. The event was arranged in honour of Ms. Eva Nguyen Binh, President of Institut Français, on her official visit to India. The event was held on May 9th, 2022.

Bonjour India 2022 is an exclusive and prominent event that is involved in taking Indo French friendship to a next level. The exclusive events included Café Cinema, Wall Art Festival, ELEKTRIK by Blanca Li, Rick-Show, Let’s Dance!, A Trip to France, 1970, City for All?, Analemma, [In] Chorus Plucking Ragams and Strings Together, Electro Jazz- Electrik  and Nunataq, A Twist of Fate, S. Thala, The Goncourt Choice of India, Battle BD – Comics Wars, French Literary Fest, Science Beyond Borders and Convergence.

The major dignitaries who were present at the launch of Mumbai included Ms. Eva Nguyen Binh – President of the Institut Français, His Excellency Jean-Marc Séré-Charlet – Consul General of France in Bombay, Stéphane Doutrelant – Executive Director of Alliance Française de Bombay and Emmanuel Lebrun-Damiens – Counsellor for Education, Science & Culture, Embassy of France in India.

 The event at Consul General’s residence was attended by India’s who’s who, diplomats from various countries, leading socialites, and art connoisseurs. India’s foremost 5 artists exhibited their works and installations at French Residence. The top brilliant artists who exhibited their work included Amrish Patel, Ashiesh Shah, Shilpa Chavan, Brinda Miller, and James Ferreira. The models put on display the latest designs and creations of artists. The fashion walk was a center of attraction that was well cherished by all attendees.

The Bonjour India 2022 event is ongoing in various parts of India. It has delighted thousands in India through 120 curated and collaborative events across 19 cities this summer. The event has entertained, informed, and educated thousands of adults and children across the country. These events will continue or begin over the next few weeks and months. The list of events includes Science Beyond Borders, Convergence, A Trip to France, ELEKTRIK by Blanca Li, Café Cinema, Night of Ideas, Let’s Dance! Film Festival, and French Cartographic Journey to India.

 Ms. Eva Nguyen Binh, President of Institut Français, France, speaking at the press conference said “I am delighted to attend Bonjour India festival which is supported by Institut Français. ELEKTRIK’s performance in Mumbai shows how successful a contemporary ballet company can be in a metro city like Mumbai. India plays a major role in the development of electronic music. Bonjour India’s philosophy is to foster encounters between artists from our two countries so they can produce innovative creations together. I hope to see more artistic partnerships build on the festival’s momentum.”

About Bonjour India 2022: France and India enjoy a substantive partnership at the core of which lie its people-to-people relations, nurtured for decades through collaborations and exchanges. One of its manifestations is the regular rendezvous between two countries, Bonjour India. This artistic, cultural, educational, and social initiative is an Indo-French moment put together by the French cooperation network in India mainly comprising of the Embassy of France and its cultural service, Institut Français en Inde, the Alliance Française network, and the Consulates of France.
