Sofitel Mumbai BKC, the first hotel in India to receive the Green Key Certification in 2024, has successfully passed its annual audit. As a result, the property’s certification has been renewed and will remain valid through December 2025.
Awarded by the National Jury Green Key India and the Center for Environment Education (CEE), the Green Key Certification is a prestigious recognition of excellence in environmental responsibility and sustainable practices within the tourism industry. The renewal of Sofitel Mumbai BKC’s certification underscores its ongoing commitment to meeting the rigorous standards set by the Foundation for Environmental Education, reflecting the hotel’s dedication to promoting sustainable and responsible business practices. Green Key certifications are valid for one year and must be renewed annually. To retain certification, an establishment must demonstrate year-on-year improvements in its environmental performance, including reductions in resource consumption, enhanced awareness campaigns, and ongoing upgrades to facilities.
Manish Dayya, General Manager Sofitel Mumbai BKC says, “This certification has inspired us to adopt smarter resource management, minimize waste and integrate sustainable choices into every aspect of our operations. It’s more than an accolade; it’s our way of ensuring a greener future while delivering the exceptional service and elegance that Sofitel as a brand is known for. For our guests, it’s a promise of a stay that aligns with their values, while offering luxury with a lighter footprint. Together, we’re making every visit a step towards a more sustainable world.”
