Preeti Makhija has been appointed as the new General Manager of The Leela Palace New Delhi by The Leela Palaces, Hotels and Resorts. With more than a decade of experience at The Leela, Preeti brings a wealth of hospitality knowledge, exceptional leadership, and a visionary approach to her new role, ensuring the continued success and growth of the renowned property.
Preeti’s educational journey began at Sacred Heart Convent in Obra and Scholar’s Home in Dehradun, before pursuing her passion for hospitality management at IHM Lucknow, where she laid the foundation for her successful career in the industry.
Her professional path began with The Oberoi Group, after which she joined The Leela Group, where she steadily rose through the ranks, ultimately reaching the position of General Manager at The Leela Palace New Delhi.
Having joined The Leela Group in 2011, Preeti has been a key figure at The Leela Palace New Delhi since its pre-opening phase. As Duty Manager, she played an instrumental role in shaping the VIP guest experience, launching the Royal Club Lounge, and overseeing the Services department. Preeti’s exceptional contributions led to her promotion to Director of Rooms and The Leela Club, which she conceptualized and launched in 2023. In this role, she was responsible for managing the front office, spa, and housekeeping departments, ensuring flawless operations and service excellence.
In 2024, Preeti was promoted to Hotel Manager, where she took charge of the hotel’s operations, strategy, and long-term vision. Under her leadership, The Leela Palace New Delhi expanded its brand presence and formed strategic luxury partnerships, including collaborations with Milan Fashion Week, Louis Vuitton, Longines, and Estée Lauder. These initiatives have not only elevated the guest experience but also contributed to the hotel’s ongoing success.
Currently, Preeti is focused on developing innovative guest programs to further enhance The Leela’s renowned hospitality. Speaking about her appointment, Preeti Makhija shared, “Taking on the role of General Manager at The Leela Palace New Delhi is a significant professional milestone for me and a deeply personal journey. This hotel has been my home for over a decade, and every corner reflects my growth, passion, and commitment to excellence. I am honoured to lead a team that shares these values and look forward to continuing the legacy of The Leela with the same dedication and heart that have guided me throughout my journey.”
