The Maharashtra government on Friday revoked the suspension of former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh.
The Eknath Shinde-led government in Maharashtra has dropped all charges against former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh. The state government revoked the suspension orders issued against Param Bir Singh in December 2021, and ordered the suspension period to be treated as ‘on duty’.
The state government has also revoked Singh’s suspension, which was imposed by the erstwhile Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government.
Singh was suspended on 12 December 2021, and he retired on 30 June 2022. In light of the government order, the period from the date of suspension until he retired will now be treated as him being on duty
The controversy surrounding the IPS officer began in February 2021, when explosives were allegedly found outside Antilia, the Mumbai residence of industrialist Mukesh Ambani.
Singh, a 1988-batch IPS officer, was removed from the post of Mumbai Police Commissioner on March 17, 2021, and was made the General Commander of Maharashtra State Home Guard after he levelled allegations against then-state home minister Anil Deshmukh.
Former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh, who was transferred from the top post, had alleged that then Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh had asked suspended Mumbai Police officer Sachin Vaze to collect Rs 100 crore for him every month.
