Marking the beginning of the festive season, ITC Grand Central has successfully hosted its traditional Tree Lighting Ceremony in the lobby on Saturday, December 9, 2023. The Christmas tree this year has been designed keeping the theme of sustainability in mind and embracing ‘The Year of Millet’.
The eco-conscious theme extended to the tree itself, made of glass vases filled with various millets such as Kuttu, Ragi, Jowar, Barnyard, and Kangni, will create a visually stunning and sustainable centrepiece.
The event was attended by a diverse audience, including staff, guests, and local socialites, who shall witness the enchanting lighting of an 11.5-foot Christmas tree crafted with millets, accompanied by melodious choir performances.
Chef Paul Noronha, Executive Chef, ITC Grand Central Mumbai has presented a delectable spread of festive delights tailored exclusively for the event. The magnum opus of the evening is the 11.5 -foot-tall Christmas tree handcrafted with millets adorned in glass jars and lit up in the lobby with sparkling lights, and the beautiful glass painting on every glass window of the hotel in the Frederick’s Lounge and the Celebration Zone highlighting various iconic Christmas characters like Christmas Elves, Frosty the Snowman, Christmas elves, frosty the snowman, scrooge, Rudolph the red nosed reindeer, Christmas angel.
Further, General Manager of ITC Grand Central –Kunal Pahwa expresses, “This annual tree lighting ceremony, featuring a handcrafted millet tree, embodies our commitment to Responsible Luxury. With 168 hours invested in its in-house creation, it signifies the festive spirit and ushers in hope for a brighter and safer year ahead, complemented by uplifting Christmas carols”.
