The Red Fort turned into a vibrant cultural hub as Vikramotsav 2025—a three-day festival celebrating the legacy of Emperor Vikramaditya—was inaugurated by top dignitaries including Hon’ble Vice President of India Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar, Governor of Madhya Pradesh Shri Mangubhai Patel, Union Tourism & Culture Minister Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav.
Organized by the Madhya Pradesh Tourism and Culture Department, the event aims to highlight the state’s rich heritage, traditional arts, and tourism potential on a national platform.
The grand opening featured a spectacular theatrical performance on the life of Emperor Vikramaditya with over 125 artists, multi-stage sets, horses, chariots, and immersive LED graphics. Cultural exhibits include Chanderi sarees, Gond paintings, Bagh prints, terracotta art, and papier-mâché creations. Food stalls offering authentic Madhya Pradesh cuisine and interactive tech zones featuring AR/VR experiences and a holographic Baba Mahakal have drawn large crowds.
Shri Sheo Shekhar Shukla, Principal Secretary (Tourism & Culture), emphasized that Vikramotsav aligns with the vision of PM Narendra Modi and CM Dr. Yadav to position Madhya Pradesh as a premier cultural and tourism destination.
The festival, which continues till 14 April 2025, is being hailed as a grand celebration of India’s timeless cultural spirit and Madhya Pradesh’s glorious legacy.
