In a major boost to mobility, education and business travel between India and Bulgaria, VFS Global has launched long-term visa (D visa) application services across six cities, in partnership with the Embassy of Bulgaria in New Delhi. The move removes the need for Indian applicants to visit the embassy physically, easing access for those applying for study, work or family-reunification categories.

The addendum to the existing agreement was signed on October 24, 2025, by H.E. Dr. Nikolay Yankov, Ambassador of Bulgaria to India, and Ms. Yummi Talwar, Chief Operating Officer – South Asia, VFS Global, at the Bulgarian Embassy in New Delhi.

The New Delhi centre will begin accepting applications from November 1, while appointment slots in Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Kolkata and Mumbai are expected to open from mid-November. Applicants can book appointments online at: visa.vfsglobal.com/ind/en/bgr.

Welcoming the development, Ambassador Dr. Yankov said the launch would “strengthen people-to-people and economic exchange” by making Bulgaria more accessible to Indians seeking long-term stays. Ms. Talwar added that VFS Global’s partnership with Bulgaria “is built on service excellence” and that extending support to D visas will “further streamline the applicant journey.”

Applicants may also choose optional services such as Visa At Your Doorstep, Premium Lounge, Prime Time submission, courier, SMS alerts and assisted form-filling. VFS Global clarified these add-ons do not affect processing timelines or visa outcomes, which remain the prerogative of the Embassy of Bulgaria.

Locations of the new centres : Ahmedabad (Shree Balaji Agora Mall, Motera), Bengaluru (Gopalan Innovation Mall, J.P. Nagar), Chennai (Ramee Mall, Anna Salai), Kolkata (Rene Tower, Kasba), Mumbai (Trade Centre, BKC) and New Delhi (Shivaji Stadium Metro Station, Connaught Place).
