Dr. Rosa Hemant Kumar Tantia was recently conferred with a PhD degree at a grand convocation ceremony, marking the culmination of over four years of dedicated academic research. The achievement reflects her perseverance, discipline, and commitment to advancing knowledge in rural healthcare.

Dr. Rosa, wife of senior IRS officer Dr. Hemant Kumar Tantia, Joint Commissioner in Indian Customs, and mother of Dr. Harsh and Dr. Yash, completed her doctoral research under the guidance of noted academician Dr. Shirish Patil. She enrolled in the PhD programme during the 2021–22 academic session and successfully completed the rigorous process—including coursework, field research, and viva voce—within three and a half years. Her research focused on critical challenges in rural healthcare delivery, particularly awareness, accessibility, and outreach among underserved communities.

Alongside her academic pursuits, Dr. Rosa has actively supported social and humanitarian initiatives. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she and her family conducted extensive outreach programmes in rural areas, addressing vaccine hesitancy and promoting preventive healthcare among women. Their efforts were formally recognised by Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, Ramdas Athawale, who presented certificates of appreciation. This recognition motivated Dr. Rosa to pursue doctoral research and contribute more meaningfully to rural society.

Coming from a family rooted in medicine and academia, Dr. Rosa’s journey reflects a shared commitment to learning and service. Both her sons are medical doctors, while her husband also holds a PhD, inspiring her path of resilience and lifelong learning.

Dr. Hemant Kumar Tantia said, “Rosa’s dedication to advancing rural healthcare through rigorous research exemplifies the spirit of perseverance and service. Her achievement is not only a personal milestone but also a contribution to the broader community, inspiring others to combine knowledge with compassion.”

Her journey reminds us that meaningful change begins with commitment, courage, and care.
