Taiwan is making a strong push to capture India’s growing outbound travel market, showcasing itself as a vibrant, safe, and premium destination for leisure, business, and incentive travel. The Taiwan Tourism Administration led its largest-ever tourism delegation to India in February, highlighting the island’s unique blend of natural beauty, modern infrastructure, and cultural richness.

The delegation, featuring two airlines, seven travel agencies, and cultural performers, began its outreach with a Taiwan Tourism Workshop in New Delhi, drawing over 100 travel trade professionals and media representatives. The workshop spotlighted Taiwan’s high-end leisure experiences, MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) capabilities, and tailor-made travel solutions for Indian visitors.

The team then participated in the three-day Outbound Travel Mart in Mumbai, one of South Asia’s largest travel trade exhibitions. Through business-to-business meetings, interactive displays, and cultural performances, Taiwan positioned itself as an ideal destination for India’s premium and corporate travellers. The “Taiwan Non-Stop” pavilion highlighted the island’s 24-hour appeal, from serene mountains to bustling night markets and vibrant urban life.

Cultural diplomacy formed a key part of the outreach, with the Lei Sheng Traditional Arts Troupe performing and artisans from Lukang conducting hands-on workshops. Taiwan’s culinary diversity, including vegetarian and specialty meal options, was also emphasized to suit Indian preferences.

In 2025, nearly 47,000 Indian travellers visited Taiwan, up more than 20 per cent from 2024. With sustained promotions and a strong Mumbai presence, Taiwan aims to solidify itself as a safe, sophisticated, and culturally immersive destination for India’s high-value travellers.
