Good News: Belarus Launches New E-Visa Facility for Indian Citizens
By Sitaram Mewati | Mumbai

Good news for Indian tourists planning to visit Belarus: the country has launched an e-visa facility for Indian citizens, allowing them to apply online without visiting a Belarusian diplomatic mission or consular office. The new facility came into effect on September 18, 2026, according to the Embassy of Belarus in India.

Aliaksandr Matsukou, Consul General of Belarus in Mumbai, said the new facility is expected to make travel more convenient for Indian citizens and increase visitor flows from India. “Our task is to expand travel flows towards Belarus and generate greater interest among Indian citizens in visiting our country,” Matsukou said.

He also highlighted the potential for stronger business contacts between India and Belarus. According to Matsukou, businesses in Mumbai have shown interest in areas including film production, pharmaceuticals, Belarusian potash fertilisers and BELAZ products. Plans for direct flights from Minsk to Mumbai and Goa could further support travel between the two countries.

The e-visa is a single-entry individual visa valid for up to 30 days. It can be issued for tourism, business travel, private visits, internships and participation in sporting, cultural, scientific and educational events.

Applicants can apply online through Belarus’s E-Pasluga website or mobile application without providing visa-support documents. Applications are submitted under service code 3.04.01, “E-visa issuance”, and are considered within seven calendar days.

The consular fee is €60, while citizens below 14 years of age are exempt. An additional internet-acquiring and service fee of €6 is charged to every applicant, irrespective of age or citizenship. Payments can be made using Visa or Mastercard.

Travellers must carry the e-visa electronically or as a printed copy and present it when requested by Belarusian authorities. Entry is permitted through international checkpoints, including road and rail crossings and the international airports at Minsk, Brest, Gomel, Grodno, Mogilev and Vitebsk.

Previously introduced visa-free regimes remain in place. However, travellers should note that Russia currently does not permit foreign nationals and stateless persons to enter Russia on Belarusian e-visas. Entry into Belarus from Russia using Belarusian e-visas is also currently unavailable for technical reasons.

The new facility provides Indian travellers with a simplified online route to Belarus for tourism, business, cultural, educational and other permitted purposes.
