Due to an unprecedented rise in COVID-19 cases in Maharashtra, the state government has decided to impose a night curfew from March 28.
The decision comes after Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray chaired a meeting with all the District Collectors, Municipal Commissioners, SPs and senior doctors.
The CM has instructed to strictly enforce rules to curb the spread of coronavirus.
He also said that separate orders in this regard should be issued by the Relief and Rehabilitation Department today.
The CM also directed each district in the state to focus on the availability of health facilities, beds and medicines. “I have no intention of imposing a lockdown, but given the growing number of patients, there might be a possibility of a shortage of facilities,” he said.
He appealed to the people to follow all the COVID-19 rules, otherwise, the government will have to impose stricter restrictions soon.
“The state government has issued guidelines to private establishments regarding changes in attendance of their employees as well as office hours. They should be closely monitored to see if rules are being followed,” the CM further said.
According to reports, malls across the state have been directed to remain shut from 8 pm to 7 am.
