Seasoned Chef Ashok Meena joins as Head Chef at MGM Muthu Hotel London

Chef Ashok Meena, Head chef MGM Muthu Hotels

Chef Ashok Meena has recently joined as Head Chef at MGM Muthu Hotels in London. His journey tells a story of hard work and mentoring that has brought him to where he is today. Chef Ashok is an enterprising person and constantly works toward honing his skills and learning innovative methods. He is an established leader in the hotel industry with a successful career, holding various positions in the culinary industry. He will be responsible for overseeing all culinary initiatives. 

Chef Ashok’s most recent position was as Executive Chef at ITC Fortune Select Exotica at Vashi Navi Mumbai. An industry veteran in his own right, he brings with him over 2 decades of relevant experience. Having worked with some of the country’s finest hotels in India and International brand Best western Hotel, Oslo in Norway as Executive Chef. He has a vast experience working on Royal Caribbean Cruise line for more than 3 years.  

Educational Assets: He completed his catering degree from Bhabha Institute of Hotel Management & Science – Udaipur in 2000.  He did his basic schooling from Jaipur. Besides his catering education, he also completed his graduation from Jaipur University. He has done his MBA in Hotel Management from EIILM University, Sikkim.   

Career Journey: After passing out from catering college, he began his career with The Sariska Palace, Alwar, in Rajasthan. Thereafter he joined Rajputana Palace Sheraton Jaipur. To enhance his culinary skills, he moved on to Royal Caribbean International (Miami USA) and worked there for three years and sharpened his culinary skills. After bidding a goodbye to cruise line job, he joined ITC Fortune Select Exotica, Vashi as Sous Chef. To climb ladder of success he moved to Tivoli Hotels & resorts, New Delhi as Executive Sous Chef. He was further keen on getting International exposure, learning global techniques and to settle on number one position, he joined Best western Hotels, Oslo Norway as Executive Chef. After gaining international exposure and new technique and trends, he joined ITC Fortune selects Manohar Hyderabad as Executive Chef. He became Brand Ambassador Chef at Soho St. Koramangla Bengaluru and later moved on to join ITC Fortune Select Exotica, Vashi Navi Mumbai as Executive Chef at. 

Chef Ashok Meena is the first person in his entire family to be a part of hospitality trade. Right from the childhood, he had a liking for cooking. He was fascinated by his grandmother’s cooking skills and used to help her in kitchen, most of the time. He learnt basic nuances of cooking from his grandmother, which became a passion. Although he was keen on joining administrative services. But, before going to administrative services, he thought of understanding hotel industry and cooking profession. Surprisingly, he liked hotel industry so much, that he changed his mind and chose food production as a profession. It was his craving towards cookery, he chose to be a chef.    

Speaking to Mumbai Messenger Chef Ashok Meena said “I am quite exciting about my new assignment. It’s great opportunity for me to explore myself as a chef. I am very happy to come to London; I think this part of world is one of the trade setting on culinary art.  I have worked in USA based cruise line and explored West coast restaurants of SFO, LA, Santiago and some part of Mexico. It was my desire to work in London, and MGM given me a chance, so I am here to explore culinary art”.
