A delegation of young students from Poonch, a border district in Jammu and Kashmir, called on Maharashtra Governor Jishnu Dev Varma at Maharashtra Lok Bhavan in Mumbai.

The interaction was organised under the National Integration and Goodwill Programme of the Indian Army’s Operation Sadbhavana, an initiative aimed at fostering national unity and goodwill among youth from border regions.

During the interaction, the Governor enquired about the students’ education, achievements in sports and future aspirations. He encouraged them to pursue excellence in their chosen fields and contribute positively to the nation’s progress. The Governor also extended his best wishes for their academic and professional success.

The visit was aimed at promoting national integration and providing students from remote border areas with greater exposure to different parts of the country. The programme seeks to inspire young minds and strengthen bonds between diverse communities through educational and cultural interactions.

Among the delegation were five girls, three of whom are national-level hockey players, highlighting the sporting talent emerging from the region. One of the students shared her ambition of joining the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), drawing appreciation from the Governor, who encouraged her to work towards her goal with dedication and determination.

Those present on the occasion included Maulvi Farid Malik, Shabnam Parveen, Nawaz Mehmood, Umar Abdullah Khan, Mubashir Ahmad, Shahista Majeed, Adil Majeed, Shabina Parveen and Naseem Fatima.

The interaction formed part of the Indian Army’s continuing efforts to foster goodwill and national unity through Operation Sadbhavana.
