Netflix India revealed that Delhi Crime, Jamtara, Masaba Masaba, Mismatched, and Kota Factory have been renewed for second seasons.
The streaming media giant raised the curtain on its upcoming 41 titles in a grand virtual event on Wednesday
The event, titled ‘What’s Next India’, saw some of the most celebrated storytellers and stars including Karan Johar, Imtiaz Ali, Raveena Tandon, Amala Paul, Siddharth Roy Kapur, Ashvini Yardi, among others, in attendance.
During the event, filmmaker Karan Johar, who will be producing Ajeeb Daastans for the streaming service, shared his apprehensions about the digital medium.
He said, “We were very proud of the film Bombay Talkies (2013). But we realised that the content is not ‘in your face commercial’, it is bound to affect the box office. The film was loved by the audience but the report card said flop.”
He added that the impact Netflix had with Love Stories helped him look at the platform with the vision of a filmmaker. “Subsequently it was a digital revolution.”
The new shows which were announced Wednesday included Madhuri Dixit starrer Finding Anamika, which will be presented by Karan Johar’s Dharmatic and Manoj Bajpayee’s web series Ray.
Decoupled featuring Madhavan and Surveen Chawla, and Amol Parashar’s Feels like Ishq were also announced by the streaming giant.
Dhanush’s much-awaited Jagame Thandhiram will be released on Netflix as announced earlier.
Mani Ratnam has collaborated with Jayendra Panchapakesan to produce a Tamil anthology consisting of nine films based on nine emotions and is aptly titled Navarasa.
Apart from these, the platform has exciting specials from comedians like Sumukhi Suresh and Prashasti Singh lined up.
