Gold seized by Chennai Air Customs

The Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) officials at the Chennai International airport arrested a gold smuggler on Saturday 17th October, 2020 night. Rawther Naina Mohamed, 38, of SP Pattinam who arrived from Dubai by Air India Express Flight IX-1644 was intercepted at exit. On persistent questioning, the passenger confessed to being carrying gold paste bundles concealed in rectum.

On his personal search, 2 bundles of gold in paste form were recovered from rectum from which 179 gms of gold was recovered after extraction. Two gold bits weighing 50 grams were also recovered from his pant pocket. In totality gold which was recovered from him weighing 229 grams and valued at Rs. 12 lakhs? The gold was recovered and seized under the Customs Act, 1962.

In another case Abdul Kadar Jailani of Madurai who arrived from Dubai by Air India Flight AI 906. On suspicion, he was intercepted at exit. On his personal search two bundles of gold paste concealed in rectum were recovered. Total 228 grams of gold valued was extracted from gold paste valued at Rs. 11.96 lakhs was recovered and seized under Customs Act total 457 grams of gold worth Rs. 23.96 lakhs.
