The High Commission of India in Colombo, on Medin Full Moon Poya Day, March 9, 2025, distributed 500 copies of the Sinhala editions of five Amar Chitra Katha Jataka Tales comic books to students at Siri Pagnnathissa Dharma Vidyalaya in Kiribathgoda.

The books, published by India’s leading comic book publisher Amar Chitra Katha, aim to teach the moral lessons and spiritual wisdom of Lord Buddha through engaging illustrations. This initiative seeks to inspire young readers and instill core Buddhist values.

Professor Ankuran Dutta, Director of the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre, presented the books to the students, who expressed their appreciation for the valuable resource to deepen their understanding of Buddhist teachings.

The High Commission plans to continue this effort by distributing Jataka Tales comic books to Sunday schools across Sri Lanka, strengthening the cultural and spiritual ties between India and Sri Lanka.
